Canine Massage Therapy
We combine canine remedial massage, myofacial release stretching techniques and specific therapeutic exercises in all our sessions to positively improve, rehabilitate and maintain your dogs musculoskeletal system.
Therapeutic pain relief. Post-op rehabilitation. Pre and Post event massage. Emotional & Mental well being. Relaxation. Canine MOT.
As with human massage canine massage can have many benefits. Massage is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body; muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues which can help to trigger the body’s own natural ability to heal. Having a regular massage may help to improve behaviour, the condition of the coat by stimulating the sebaceous glands, aiding venous and lymphatic circulation, assisting in rehabilitating your dog from injury & surgery, reduces scar tissue, relieves pain & discomfort which often resolves or improves stiffness & lameness thus helping the dog move more freely. Canine massage promotes the relaxation of tight, inflexible muscles, to improve their tone & elasticity and range of movement (ROM). In addition massage can help dogs to cope with orthopedic issues, such as arthritis, hip dysplasia and spondylosis as well as helping with post-operative rehabilitation significantly improving the speed in which your dog recovers.
Pain always effects behaviour so by relieving your dogs aches and pains through the use of regular massage you may help to improve mood & behaviour such as fear, anxiety & reactivity.
If you have an active sporting dog that regularly competes at agility, canicross, hoopers or a working dog that takes part in field trials canine sports therapy can help to keep your dog injury free!
Each session is choice lead meaning we give control on how they are treated back to the dog – I will never force a dog to accept a treatment. Some dogs may avoid touch for many reasons and/or struggle in new situations, this could indicate they may want to avoid a particularly sensitive spot being touched. Unlike other massage therapists I am a Tellington TTouch Practitioner P1 and will work with your dog using specific techniques to build a relationship with your dog before gently introducing massage into treatment sessions. If you want to know more about how these choice lead sessions work then please give us a call and I will happily talk you through the process.
90 minute treatment session involves;
- Initial Consultation
- Movement & conformation evaluation.
- Superficial muscular palpation.
- Massage Treatment (tailored to the findings during evaluation & palpation).

- Equipment use and dietary advice.
- After care advice.
- Detailed report covering the session will be emailed within 24 hours.
Dogs can be quite stoic where daily aches and pains are concerned and as a result these are often overlooked until they develop into something more serious. Having your dog treated by us can mean these problems can be picked up before they progress and become a problem to your dogs heath. We recommend a general canine MOT treatment every 4 – 8 weeks where possible to keep them in tip top condition.
Sessions take place at the dogs own home to ensure maximum comfort and relaxation.
